Fair Hill Nature Center's Outdoor School

Pre-trip Information for Fair Hill Nature Center field trips:

1. Be sure to arrange ahead of time for a chaperone for each class. This is a very important safety concern.

2. Please have students wear name tags of any design that you choose. Masking tape works well. No straight pins.

3. Programs are two hours long with an additional _ hour allowed for lunch.

4. Please call us one week ahead of your scheduled visit to alert us to any students in your class with special needs, i.e. hearing or sight deficits or mobility limitations.

5. Every student should plan to bring a complete change of clothes including shoes for rainy days. We will hike rain or shine with the exception of lightning. Dress appropriately. No sandals.

6. Please make Nature Center staff aware of any student who is allergic to bee stings. (Check with the school nurse). We encourage these students to eat lunch inside.

7. A covered pavilion is available for rainy day lunches.

8. A reminder: All Maryland State Parks are trash free. We ask that you remember to carry the student's trash back to your school dumpster. (Help us to reduce the yellow jackets by carefully picking up trash.)

9. If you have a question about anything at all please call us at (410) 398-4909 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
